Antelope Crossing

Antelope Road and Interstate 80

Antelope Crossing Aerial Antelope Road Improvements Project Spooktacular Ribbon Cutting

The Antelope Crossing Business Association was formed in 2009 in an effort to breathe new life into the commercial and retail centers at Interstate 80 and Antelope Road. Antelope Crossing consists of the two retail and commercial centers at Antelope Road and Interstate 80. Antelope Road is the only freeway exit directly into the City of Citrus Heights making it an ideal location due to both freeway visibility and easy access for commuters. The revitalization task force plans to add to the advantages of the business district such as improved landscaping and signage and eliminate the negative aspects such as the current vacancy rate.

The recent Complete Streets Project has dramatically improved the aesthetics of the area while also making it more functional for commuters and pedestrians. The project entailed widening Antelope Road from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, widening sidewalks, installing new ADA compliant ramps and pedestrian cross walks as well as improving landscape and installation of medians. As a facet to the branding campaign, new banners were installed throughout the area to set apart the new business association from the many retail centers in the region. In addition, during the summer months and winter holidays colorful seasonal banners will hang on street poles within the Antelope Crossing Business Association.

As a part of the continuing effort to make Antelope Crossing more appealing to prospective tenants and brokers, the revitalization task force is making headway on a new marketing campaign. The task force was formed in 2009 and has already had many successes such as their premier event, the Halloween Spooktacular, which was held on October 31, 2009. The Spooktacular was a success as it ushered in both consumers and a new enthusiasm for the commercial centers. Be sure to check back often for new developments as well as future events.
